How to Contact Me

I can be contacted directly on my mobile or on my landline or by email. Phone calls are welcomed during normal office hours. In the event of me being unable to take your call, DO please leave a message on either of my answering services and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I usually switch off my mobile phone during my shows and when I am driving.

Emails I will answer as soon as I can. If I am away overnight my laptop usually travels with me. But despite popular belief not all hotels have working WiFi systems.

Please Note: The voice on my landline answering machine is that of my daughter Lydia when she was just eight years old and doing her “Lady of the House” impression. She is now all grown up and not very impressed it is still in use all these years later. As you can imagine I am very reluctant to change it.

How to Book My Services

While I am mainly available by direct private arrangement. I am also available through the “Writers’ in Schools” scheme run by Poetry Ireland. As a result of this and my association with many city and county libraries around the country I am regularly vetted by An Garda Síochána for my suitability to work with children.

Direct Private Arrangement

I do most of my Storytelling Visits to schools and libraries nationwide by direct private arrangement. My fee is available on request. This will depend on what I have to do, the distance I have to travel and whether there is an overnight stay involved.

My fee includes all expenses. There are no hidden extras. Normally there is no deposit required, except for dates during Book Week in October or for World Book Day in March.

Payment is expected in full on the day of my visit by either school cheque or cash. I supply an invoice on the day or in advance if required. Cheques should be made out to myself Liam Farrell.

Payment by cheque is my preferred option, as I am very reluctant to give my personal bank account details to anybody for payment by EFT.

Writers’ in Schools

I am also available through the “Writers’ in Schools” scheme run by Poetry Ireland. Funding for these visits is limited due to Government cutbacks and when available it only covers a “part of day visit” and not a “full day visit.” So it would be advisable to make arrangements with Poetry Ireland well in advance of any proposed visit.

If you have any special requirements other than a full day/four show visit, then don’t hesitate to contact me with the details. I do guest appearances and presentations in schools and libraries and at local events. I also do school visits on behalf of local libraries. This is usually in tandem with a membership drive or some other promotional event the library is organising at the time.

Please Note: I do not do children’s birthday parties.
